If anyone was forgotten at the meeting, please let me know.

The meeting began at 7:00 pm.  The following items were discussed while I entered rosters so that handicaps could be set.  If any roster is incorrect please email me at sukie93@yahoo.com or leave a message on the machine at 627-6347.  The meeting was fast-paced and a lot was going on at once so I might have missed removing or adding players.

1.        The league will start on September 12th.  I came to the meeting with a 15-team schedule; however, My Friends will not have two teams so a new schedule needed to be created with 14 teams.  This was done during the meeting.

2.        It was suggested that the team fee be raised to $200 per team at the last meeting.  Since all team captains are not all on the boards at their respective clubs we asked that clubs be notified of this change.  No club had a problem with the change so it was voted on and accepted.  Dues will payable no later than the fourth week of the season.

3.        I was again asked if I had been paid for last year.   Since I thought you were all joking last year, it was not in the minutes and no one could actually remember what was agreed.  It was voted to pay $200 per year from the league and this would be retroactive to last year.  Sue will be paid $400 as soon as possible.

4.        Workmen’s will be hosting the Singles.  They are very excited and have already begun initial preparations for hosting the tournament.  They have already had an electrician in to look at wiring the hall for table lights, they have spoken with a nearby pizza/sub place to provide a menu and food will be delivered within 10-15 minutes of ordering, and Jay Spielburg will be providing two tables in the hall for the tournament.  Sue will be meeting with their board on Monday, September 8th to answer any additional questions and help them through tournament preparations.

5.        It was requested that the rule be changed that a new clubs do not automatically go to the top of the list for hosting a tournament.  After some discussion this was voted on and passed.  The rule will be changed to state that new clubs will go to the bottom of the rotation.  They will still need to host a singles before they can be eligible to host the doubles tournament.  The rule change will take effect at the start of the 2015/2016 season.

6.        It was voted that teams will collect $10 per night to go towards a banquet at the end of the year.  The intent is for this to come from the players who play that night.  It will be collected for every week of play, including play-offs.  This will be sent to the league treasurer, Ray Paquin, at the Davignon Club or can be dropped at the Davignon Club in the locked box at the top of the  basement stairs.  Please be sure to put the money in an envelope and note that it is for the QCPL banquet and for which TEAM the payment is to be applied.  Since the Davignon club has 4 teams, every team should be in the club on a regular basis and this can be dropped off at any time.  The only two people who have the key to this locked box are the Davignon President (Ray Paquin) and the Secretary (Cathy Cere).

7.        Handicaps were discussed. The following were set as the initial handicaps and will be adjusted as needed at the next meeting before week 5 of league play.

Alpine will go to a 9, Deerhead 1 and 2 will both be a 9 (they are splitting their team into two teams), British will go to a 15, Fish to a 15 and  Workman’s to a 12 (they lost many of their top players),  Davignon 4, Eastside and My Friends will remain at 15.  Cercle 1 will be unchanged at a 9, Davignon 3 is unchanged at a 6.  Cercle 2, Davignon 1 and Davignon 2 will all be O.

8.        It was again discussed whether barred players would be allowed to play in the club where they have been barred.  Since it is a club issue and NOT a QCPL issue, individual club rules will prevail!

9.        Thanks to Rich Soares for taking notes so that Sue could get initial rosters into the computer so that handicaps could be established and recreate the schedule.  All teams were given a schedule when they left and it will be posted on the web site as soon as possible.

Agenda for the next meeting:

1.      Discuss banquet – when and where

2.      Set up Prize fund for 1st and 2nd place.

Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.

Respectfully,

Sue Davis
